Steven Zhu, 14, is a freshman at Tenafly High School in Tenafly, New Jersey. He has studied piano with Mr. Steven Masi since the age of five.
Steven has received First Place at the Vivo International Music Competition in 2020, 2023, and 2025, and was selected annually to perform in the JCC Thurnauer School of Music Honor Recital from 2021 through 2025. In 2025, he appeared as a soloist with the Thurnauer Symphony Orchestra under conductor Diego Garcia, performing the first movement of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1.
An enthusiastic chamber musician, Steven and his ensemble were selected as finalists and performed at the 28th Young Ensembles Concert at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in May 2025. In addition to piano, Steven studies violin at school and enjoys making music with fellow musicians.
